August Review Round-Up
(August 16th-31st) 128 Links!

Oh my goodness! Two weeks in a row! It’s been a blast going back and seeing what my peers are review this month, so the will to do this again has definitely been there, if not the time. And, luckily for my readers, I don’t have much better to do on a Saturday night!

It felt like a light two weeks out there in the ring of sites that I visit. I often joke that toyblogging prematurely ages you and it’s not lost on me that some of the Powerhouse sites from when Review Round-Up started are either no longer with us or working to keep the light on. It makes me think…

There are still plenty of old-timers kicking around and plenty of new & upcoming sites on the list too. I’m still hesitant to expand past the two dozen sites I love most (lest this become too time-consuming like last time), but I still want to be on the lookout for the next great site. I guess I just like to be an early adopter. So let me know if there is a site out there that should be included. Maybe if we hit thirty again, we can play a really mean popularity contest to see who stays? I keed, I keed… And I’m tired!

Alright, on to the list! This Round-Up features the second half of August (yeah, it’s September. No, don’t shoot the messenger). Seventeen of the 24 sites had reviews posted during this period, the 16th-31st, and those links are included below. All 128 of ’em! Some of the highlights include two looks at an awesome toy from Spy Monkey Creations, the Weaponeer. If you love classic toys or classic DC, you should check it out (and then come back for an IAT review soon!). Also, Star Wars Black continued to dominate the list though the newest wave of Marvel Legends is giving it a run for its money. Finally, my Review of the Week tag goes to 16Bit’s Star Trek TNG: Deanna Troi Review from Playmates’ 90s line. I loved that line. Some time I’ll have to show you guys that custom shelf my parents had made for it. Good times. I really need to get those out of storage and into the toy room (I just wish some of them had aged as well as others…). Anyway, check out ol’ Deanna Troi for a trip down memory lane!

Reviews are categorized by major brands, independent releases such as Onell or Spy Monkey are listed under the same “7th Market” heading we use for our own reviews, and smaller brands are grouped together under Miscellaneous. As always, offsite reviews do not necessarily reflect the views of IAT or its staff.

7th Market

DC Comics

G.I. Joe

Marvel

Masters of the Universe

Miscellaneous

NECA, Licensed

Power Rangers

Star Wars

TMNT

Transformers

Do you know of (or run) a toy site that you think I’d enjoy? Let me know!

  1. so much WANT! no money! 🙁

I can’t agree with the one review’s point in the Thunderbolts review that Crossbones was added because the original single card figure was so scarce. Um, so they added him to a 5pk with an even lower production run? HOW does that make sense?

I saw some of those Heisenberg figures at TRU when I went up to SoCo for The World’s End, and one store had all the blisters TAPED to the cardbacks, while the other looked about a day from needing tape to hold them on. also, they all had vacu-forms for the face, all but masking the features. Not exactly selling points.
(and not one sign of Predator/Dutch figures! 🙁 )

    1. I have not given the Breaking Bad figures a passing glance. It’s cool for those that want ’em, but it’s just not something that needs a spot in my shelves.

And that TBolts set. So annoying. Though mostly becuase I want the Satanna, not so much the others.

  2. We’re a group of volunteers and opening a brand new scheme in our community. Your website provided us with valuable info to paintings on. You have performed an impressive task and our entire community might be grateful to you.
