Earlier this week, Mattel reviewed packaging shots for MOTU Classics figures due out this Summer including Extendar (June), Flogg (July), and “Intergalactic” Skeletor (August, Q3 figure):
Hey He-Fans and She-Ravers!
Matty Mattel back with some of our latest packaged images of upcoming Masters of the Universe Classic figs! Hot from photo department are two evil characters from the “New Adventures” era, Flogg and Intergalactic Skeletor and another vintage member of the Masters – Extendar! New figures will be available on the 15th of each month only on Mattycollector.com!
Extendar ships in June as the monthy Club Eternia figure. Also available in limited quantities day-of. He includes a lance, shield and extension parts for his arms, legs, neck and torso. Check out the peace symbol on the neck! Works similar to Tall Star or Mekanek as far as snap and replace.
Flogg ships in July as the monthly figure and is part of Club Eternia. His helmet is not removable but he does have his signature whip and the “Filmation” version of He-Man’s sword.
Intergalactic Skeletor is the quarterly variant for Q3 and ships in Aug. He has a removable helment and the battle damaged head of Faker! Plus a cosmic Havoc Staff for beating up He-Man!
The final reveal, Intergalactic Skeletor, caused the usual stir as the production piece appeared to be further from the 4H’s work than we’ve come to expect. Mattel’s having to use an armor/overlay for the chest was to be expected, but it seems they weren’t as able to engineer it as well as was done for King Hssss. In response to criticisms, Mattel released a deluge of pics of NA Skelly out of the package:
What happened between prototype and production to Skeletor’s “armour” and Extendar’s belt?! Yeesh!
The armor bloat strikes again!
has anyone else noticed faker’s robot face is too big? It’s like an appliance over a human face rather than a robot face lying under a skin overlay That would have to be smaller than the dimensions of the face. That bugs me as much or more than skeletor’s no-wipe armor
That, and the features don’t really even line up – the eye and cheekbone are not where they should be to match the half that still has its “skin”. Yep, NA Skelly is just one, big, disappointing (and, at my house, unopened) package.
I noticed that also. The bulky armour really ruins it for me. NA Skeletor was the first Skeletor and NA figure I ever got, so I was really hoping he would be so much better.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Since the line began they should have had a thinner body for figures that required body armour.
Believe it or not, the best “robot head” I’ve seen on Faker is the Metallo C&C head.
Just paint the eyes from green to red and it’s good to go.
Why haven’t they done the Prince Adam head in Faker colors? Just paint evil eyebrows and he looks awesome!
The guy that replaced the former toy designer/engineer is not up to par on the armor construction.
The best Skeletor shot is the one showing the back.
Ruben Martinez’s last figure is IG Skeletor, so this is STILL Ruben’s work.
